There is currently a Travel Advisory in effect for this region and it's surrounding boarders as well as islands just off the coast of the Mindanao mainland. Although the Davao Region joins the Caraga and Northern Mindanao Regions as one of the safer regions in Mindanao, we still suggest remaining in the more populated areas that are as inland as possible. Davao City for example, has been ranked as one of the safest places in the world. Please keep in mind that it is always wise to seek a tour guide, and to avoid traveling at night.
Provinces: Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental, Davao Oriental.
Cities: Davao City, Digos, Mati, Panabo, Tagum, Samal etc.
"From Islands to Highlands!" The Davao Region (region 11), is the most popular region in all of Mindanao, and for good reason. Davao offers a safe, orderly, and peaceful escape for people of all colors and religions. This combined with it's Japanese influence, and love of folk music (celebrated in all local languages), creates a unique mix of diversity that is void in the rest of Mindanao. Perhaps this is why it's Francisco Bangoy International Airport is the 3rd most popular airport in the entire country. Davao City is the only city in the Philippines to have a working 911 emergency system, and the Davao Regional Hospital is world-class. This is all thanks to the Philippines President and former Mayor of Davao, Rodrigo Duterte. His relentless cracked down on crime, and ability to work with both Muslims and Christians equally, protects everyone's right to live in peace.
Although their are many great cities and villages in this region, not all are appealing to tourists. The recommended tourist destinations include: Davao City, Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, Compostela Valley, Tagum City, and the Island Garden City of Samal Island. The top 3 destinations by popularity are pictured below.
