A historic place with something for everyone! The Central Visayas Region (region 7), is one of the most popular in all of the Philippines. The region is known for it’s mega malls, universities, nightlife, and amazing festivals. The English language is spoken fluently by the vast majority of citizens in this area, perhaps this is due to all the tourist that come in and out of Mactan-Cebu airport. The region is fairly safe being centralized, but take note an earthquake did rumble the area recently badly damaging many historic sites.
Although their are many great cities and villages in this region, not all are appealing to tourists. The recommended tourist destinations include: Cebu City, Bohol, Panglao Island, Siquijor, Camotes Island, Danao, Bantayan Island, Mactan Island & Olango Island, and Malapascua Island. The top 3 destinations by popularity are pictured below. Note: we have separated the “Negros Island Region” into a separate page.

Hotel amenities are top notch, WiFi is strong, and surprisingly most rooms have bathtubs, a rare commodity in the Philippines! Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the hotel is the large tropical style pool on the hotel grounds, one of the best in the area.
your day with the breakfast buffet at Garden Cafe at the Cebu City Marriott Hotel on Cardinal Rosales Ave. Truly awesome food, everything from western style breakfast foods to made-to-order smoothies. The Garden Cafe has some of the best looking buffets for lunch and dinner in the Philippines and is accompanied by a wonderful ambiance that’s hard to find in a buffet setting. Prices are a little high ranging from $12-$36, but be sure to indulge here once before you depart.
the city from outside of the busy malls from the top of Tops Lookout at Busay Hills and Nivel Hills, Lahug, Cebu City. Sure the malls are fantastic in Cebu City, and the churches are historic and beautiful, but we are not hear to point out the obvious! The beauty of the entire city can be truly appreciated from the absolute best view in the city. The park is complete with private stone picnic tables each separated by stone archways, so be sure to bring the family and pack lunch or have a snack at the cafe.
It wouldn’t feel right if we didn’t mention that south of the city you have the opportunity to engage in a once in a lifetime experience swimming with the majestic whale sharks of Oslob!
